Anti-Aging Superstars

· Comments(4)

anti-aging superstarsSkin care expert Paula Begoun has released a new free report on her website about Anti-Aging Superstar skin care ingredients. Like Paula, I’m only interested in skin care products that actually offer real results, and her report explains in detail about what does, and doesn’t work, when it comes to turning back the clock. Check it out – there’s lots of great info to read.

The report includes info about glycolic acid, salicylic acid, retinol, vitamin c, sunscreen, antioxidants, and even Botox – all of my favorite anti-aging and skin care ingredients!

The only thing Paula Begoun advocates, which I personally don’t like, is the use of avobenzene in sunscreen. I much prefer zinc oxide-based sunscreens, so I don’t agree with all of her sunscreen recommendations. I also like sunscreens that are as effective as possible, so I look for ones with a high percentage of zinc oxide, that are SPF 30+. Also, Paula’s product reviews don’t state whether or not a product contains pore-clogging ingredients, which is a big issue for acne sufferers. Finally, I agree with her that retinol-based products are key in your anti-aging skin care routine, but she doesn’t list how much retinol is in the products she recommends.

Paula Begoun also has a new site called Beautypedia, which is an extension of her book Don’t Go To The Cosmetics Counter Without Me (a book I highly recommend). The site has over 35,000 product reviews, and it gets updated as new products come out on the market. The site costs $24.95 a year to join, and I’m cheap right now, so I haven’t joined yet. I think you can get a free trial membership though, so I should look into that. Has anyone joined Beautypedia? What do you think?

I am a member of Beautypedia, and I find it helpful. I can write it off as research (cough) for my blog so I don’t mind spending the money. I don’t always agree with Paula’s opinions as she usually just goes by ingredients and not trying every product. She recently dissed Boots No 7 Restore and renew serum which I love and has got independent studies backing up it’s claims. So I take her advice as an opinion, not as 100% fact. After all, different things work for different people. The anti-aging report is a good one.

    Hello,

I joined Beautypedia.com a couple months ago, and I find it very beneficial. It is just an up to date version of her beauty review book. You can save 50% on the “subscription” fee of the website by entering Coupon Code: BP50.

beautypedia is nice for the ingredients lists. I dont know if I’ll get another year’s subscription though. I got it for 50% off because there was a code a while back. Maybe the code is still viable (google and makeupalley usually are good references)
I dont like her views on avobenzone re: stability. She’s emphatic that it wont break down in sunlight quickly, when its been shown to break down faster than any other UV filter. the good news is that octocrylene stabilizes avobenzone, so just look for those two ingredients together. But yeah, I personally prefer zinc oxide too!
PB is funny, in the 6th edition of her book she discounts vitamin C as being an important antioxidant, while in this report its on her A list. But she wont admit she was wrong. And her antioxidant serum has changed recently too, replacing A list antioxidants with B list ones. So she’s not being consistent there. Why would she change it? my guess is that its cheaper.
Yeah while Im not a personal fan of PB, I appreciate her thorough ingredients lists.

I used a coupon code (a flyer from the book which I read in the store) to get half off the annual fee. I wasn’t willing to pay $24 for the year but $12 was okay for a trial run. I do like it especially as I don’t actually own the book. I use her reviews in conjuction with real life reviews (makeup alley, blogs) before I buy something. Your blog has become one of my favorites for skin care reviews. I probably won’t renew for $24 but if they offered another discount I might as I do like reviews on new stuff from a slightly scientific point of view. Although the lack of pore clogging ingredient notification in her reviews is annoying. (But also one of the reasons I love your blog!)
