Clinique Continuous Rescue Antioxidant Moisturizer

· Comments(18)

clinique continuous rescueI think I’ve finally found a moisturizer that actually moisturizes well, doesn’t clog pores, contains lots of antioxidants, and comes in stable packaging! For years I either find moisturizers that work great, but that don’t have any antioxidants, or I find a product that clogs pores, or one that does contain antioxidants, but that comes in a jar packaging, which makes the antioxidants worthless.

Clinique Continuous Rescue Antioxidant Moisturizer
I picked up a jar of my favorite moisturizer Clinique Moisture On-line, and got a sample of the Continuous Rescue Antioxidant Moisturizer - for Dry Combination skin in the gift-with-purchase goodie bag. I love the Clinique Moisture On-line because it works so well to keep my skin plump and hydrated all day, yet it’s expensive for what it is because it comes in jar packaging, so in the end it’s only a good hydrator.

For the same price, the Continuous Rescue comes in the tube packaging shown in the picture, and it’s loaded with antioxidants, which should remain stable in the tube. I’ve been wearing this moisturizer for over a week, and it hasn’t caused any breakouts. It doesn’t hydrate quite as well as the Moisture On-line, so I’m excited to try out the Very Dry version soon (assuming it doesn’t have pore clogging ingredients). There’s also a Combination Oily version (which I haven’t been able to find the ingredients for yet either). While the Dry Combination moisturizer wasn’t quite hydrating enough for my skin the bone-dry desert of Las Vegas, I also wore it for a week in super hot and humid New York City, where I was visiting last week. It was plenty hydrating there, and was just ever so slightly shiny on me (which I don’t mind at all).

I would highly recommend trying this moisturizer if you are looking for a moisturizer with lots of stable antioxidants. Just remember to put on sunscreen over it since it doesn’t contain sun protection. Have you tried this, or do you currently use a moisturizer that has the same properties as this one (doesn’t clog pores, stable packaging, good hydrator, lots of antioxidants)?

Do you recommend this over the Clinique Moisture On Line for acne prone skin?

  2. pam Says:

what actually are the ingredients in the sample that you received? It kinda freaks me out that it is so hard to find a list of ingredients in their products!

    hello,
Im just wondering if shea butter (butyrospermum parkii) found in the CRAM Dry Combination skin, is problematic for acne prone skin?, Im not sure but I think I have had problems with this in the past?

  5. Marie Says:

So do you use this moisturizer instead than using Paula’s Choice Skin Recovery Super Antioxidant Concentrate or Olay Regenerist Deep Hydration Regenerating Cream (from your skin regimen)? Thanks and I love your blog! I’m trying out your skin regimen right now and it is doing wonders!!!

  6. Julie Says:

Hi SavvySkin. I’ve been thinking about purchasing a moisturizer with antioxidants but most of the ones I have found online are way too expensive for my budget. Are they any decent antioxidant moisturizers (with no pore-clogging ingredients) that can be found in local drugstores or chain stores such as Walmart or Target?

  7. Kristin Says:

I use the Very Dry version at night, without any problems from breakouts. It’s got even more anti-irritants than the Dry/Combo formula, and my sensitive dry skin loves it! I’ve been using this instead of the Paula’s Choice Skin Recovery Super Antioxidant Concentrate, because I always have to layer it with a moisturizer.
And Clinique will take returns on anything if you hang on to the packaging and receipt! (if you find it breaks you out)

  8. MisSmall Says:

Thanks for the review. I’ve pretty much given up on using any moisturizers because everything seems to breaks me out, especially when the weather is hot and humid. :(

  9. Olivia Says:

I’ve tried a fruit pigmented tinted moisturizer sold only on QVC by 100% Pure Cosmetics. It doesn’t provide much coverage - more like a sheer wash of color but I think the ingredients (especially the Zinc Oxide) is pretty impressive. What are your thoughts? Here is the list:
Ingredients: Pigments of Peach, Apricot, Carrot, Pomegranate, Goji Berry and Tomato, White Tea, Cucumber Juice, Aloe Juice, Acai and Pomegranate Oil, Vitamin E (a-tocopherol), Vitamin C (ascorbyl palmitate), Chamomile and Lavender wax, extracts of Rosemary, Oregano, Thyme, Grapefruit Seed, Goldenseal and Cinnamon, Lavender Essential Oil
SUNSCREEN ACTIVE INGREDIENTS: 15% Titanium Dioxide and 10% Zinc Oxide

This is a really good post. Moisturizing is really important. I actually know that the Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Age Shield hand cream moisturizes for up to 24 hours and also has 30 UVA/UVB protection too.

Hi Skin Savvy- I haven’t used the Continuous Rescue Antioxidant Moisturizer, but I may try it out when I’m finished with my current sunblock–it’s DermaDoctor’s Body Guard. I like my Body Guard- like you, I worry about breakouts but this product actually seems to mattify my complexion when I have it on. And it contains green tea, which is an antioxidant. But when it gets cold, I look for something more hydrating. I guess with Clinique, there’s a lot to choose from. I too am curious to see what’s on the ingredient list with the Combination/Oily Skin version of Continous Rescue contains as I try to avoid putting products containing any form of oil (unless it’s tea tree) on my face.

  12. Angela Says:

Olivia: Thanks for turning me on to 100%. I just ordered the tinted moisturizer! I also have been using the continuous rescue for oily skin and like it, no breakouts, no problems. I just bought Serious Skin Care’s SuperMel C line (melon antioxidant, same as Meaningful Beauty’s) from HSN. I am a beauty junkie!!

  13. Elena Says:

I love Shiseido’s sunscreen too! I find it is by far the gentlest available (the only thing that didn’t burn me when I was on Renova).
I wanted to let you know I’ve recently become a big fan of your blog and I am planning on featuring my favorite fellow beauty bloggers on my own in the next few weeks. I am also going to start a blogroll.
Just wanted to give you a heads up!

Is it new? cause i haven’t seen it anywhere.

Hey. I have had problems in the past with moisturizers that contain glycerin — it seems to make me break out. I always look on the list of ingredients when trying to find a new moisturizer (that hopefully has SPF as well). I was using Origins’ LOOK ALIVE but now they have discontinued the product. Then I was going to use a Clinique product I tried awhile back that seemed okay, total turnaround moisture cream, but now I can not find that on their website either. I live in Norway so some of the brands I liked in the US can not be found here so I like to shop online. However, I can never seem to find the ingredients listed on the side. Thanks for the ingredient list and I will check out makeupalley.com to check for ingredient lists. But does anyone know if there are other sites out there that disclose the full list of ingredients of cosmetics?

I tried many types of moisturizers (including oil-free type) but my face is somewhat oily, and they make me break out. I kept looking because my forehead and the sides of my face get dry (especially during winter), and I absolutely have to use a moisturizer.
I was pretty happy when I found the Made from Earth Rosehip & Hibiscus Face Serum and I have continued to use it for at least two years now. It really works, and I love it! I do not break out from using it, plus it is a perfect moisturizer. The best thing about its also is that it is chemical free and organic…plus it firms the skin also!
I guess it was all the chemicals in skin care products that was making me break out all these years. The sides of my face no longer itch during the winter, and the chemical free with anti-wrinkle formula is ideal for me, because I turned 49 this year! I looked at other moisturizers but have never found one that has both benefits together. You can kind them in Whole Food Stores, or at madefromearth.com

  17. VANYA Says:

It’s good to use antioxidant containing products but it is always the best to directly absorb from food. Top 10 antioxidant foods are berries, broccoli, tomatoes, red grapes, garlic, spinach, soy, carrots, tea and whole grains.

  18. Jenna Brown Says:

Another brand that makes great products for the skin is Maybelline. Right now, for every $15 you spend on Maybelline New York products you get a $5 Target gift card if you mail in your receipt to Glamour Magazine:) Check it out on GlamAlert.com/Maybelline.
