Happy Black Friday!

· Comments(4)

black fridayHappy Black Friday!

I must confess that shopping is my favorite hobby, and I would do it every day if I could. However, I always boycott stores and malls on Black Friday because I’m afraid of the mass crowds, and it always seemed sort of pointless to fight the crowds. Well last Black Friday I had to be at the mall for several hours, and it wasn’t bad at all! And the sales really did seem good! Here in Vegas, the parking is pretty good, though, so there were still spaces left at the mall. I remember going to a mall in San Diego close to Christmas, and there were no spaces at all. I had to turn around and leave.

Did you brave Black Friday? Where did you go? What did you buy today? Were the crowds worth it? How were the sales?

The only thing I do on Black Friday is set up my holiday shopping pages on my website, then I start organizing my online shopping for my sons, daughter in law, and step grand kids.

I have more pleasure ordering and sending than I do standing in a store, but that is true no matter the time of year!

I admit it. I went to Walmart-the store everyone loves to hate. There were some killer toys on sale til 11:00 am.–it wasn’t too bad. All toys that went to needy children, so I left the store feeling gooood!
I love your blog. Your writing style is knowledgeable yet relaxed. Very nice.
Why do they call it “BLACK” Friday?

    Target!!!!
I brought 2 19″ flat screen tv’s with built in dvd players for $199. I NEVER go shopping on Black Friday but I could not pass up a $300 saving. As to how crowded it was just turn on your television or google NYC Target, your bound to see a story about the crazy lines.

    Hi Elaine,
It’s called Black Friday because it’s the day many companies get out of the red financially, and start making a profit (thus getting into the black). That’s why companies and stores push the holiday season so much - since it’s the one or two months a year that they really rake in the money.
