Even though I am obsessed with skin care and beauty products, I now have a paralyzing fear of buying anything new! When I was trying to cure my acne, I spent an obscene amount of money on every product I could find, and initially nothing worked, so I felt like I had wasted so much money. Finally, after I found products that worked and I was able to get rid of my acne, I was content. I had everything I needed to achieve acne-free skin, and a few other skin care products helped to lessen my wrinkles. I read so many magazines, and always want to try every new product that comes out, but I feel like I already have everything I need. I don’t have a lot of money to throw around, and since I don’t “need” any beauty products, I don’t buy anything, except for restocking the items I already use. Aside from a new sunscreen I bought last month - Dermaquest Zinclear SPF 30, I can’t tell you the last time I’ve bought a new product! Oh wait, I did buy Clinique Super City Block SPF 40
about two months ago, after receiving a few sample. Woops. Those darn samples rope me in every time! That’s why companies pay big bucks to provide samples in magazines! I have a Smashbox Photo Finish waiting to be tried. I have never used a makeup primer before. Hmmm.
Anyway, I love going to stores like Sephora and trying on every product on my hand, but I’m afraid if I buy one product I will want to buy everything! Since I feel like I know how to read labels and know what ingredients to avoid, few products actually seem that great once I read the ingredients. Plus I’m a skeptic, so I don’t have much faith in the fanciful claims most products make. So I feel kind of silly having a skin care blog, and being afraid to buy new products, but I am mostly content with my current regimen and I feel good about not spending a fortune to take care of my skin! And part of the reason for starting this blog was to show people you don’t need to spend a fortune to look good!

Hi Jeni,
I totally understand sticking with what works. I find this in both diet and skincare. We are all different, so we are all our own little experiments when it comes right down to it. When I “experiment” on my diet, it can take days to get back to what I know works. It’s even worse with skincare, because if you screw up, everyone may see your mistake! And it can take a long time to get your skin back to normal. I know when I was experimenting with tanner stuff, I needed to make sure I could go into hiding for 2-3 days just in case. So, it becomes important that people share their experiences on places like your blog.

Hello,
I was just curious, as to what your daily skin care regimen consisted of? A.M and P.M. Just being super nosy!

FreebieGal,
In this post - http://www.savvyskin.com/guide-to-cure-acne I sort of go over all the products I recommend and use on a daily basis. This sort of encompasses my anti-acne/anti-aging daily routine.
