Sephora Sun Safety Kit

· Comments(6)

sephora sun safety kitSephora is offering a great little kit that is available now until June 2008, or until supplies last. If you are obsessed with sunscreens (like me), and want to try everything, this is for you! You get travel-sized versions of eleven different sunscreens in the Sephora Sun Safety Kit!

This is a great way to try a whole bunch of new products, to figure out your new favorite. My current favorite - Shiseido Ultimate Face Protection Cream For Face SPF 55 isn’t in the bunch, but you get its close cousin Shiseido Ultimate Sun Protection Lotion SPF 55 instead. Also included are travel sizes of:

• Korres Natural Products Watermelon Sunscreen Face Cream SPF 30

• Peter Thomas Roth Max Sheer All Day Defense Moisture Lotion SPF 30

• DDF Daily Protective Moisturizer SPF 15

• Cosmedicine Medi-Matte Oil Control Lotion SPF 20

• Juice Beauty Green Apple Moisturizer SPF 15

• Murad Firming Bronzer SPF 15

• MD Skincare Powerful Sun Protection Pads SPF 30

• Clarins Sun Wrinkle Control Cream Ultra Protection SPF 30

• Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer SPF 15

• Tarte 24/7 Lip Sheer SPF 15

You also get a limited edition Sephora pouch, plus something really cool that I totally want - a UV indicator card. I assume you can take this out in the sun, and it will give you a UV Index reading. This will give you an idea of when it’s just too hot to be outside. I used to have a little gadget that did this, but I’m pretty sure it only measures UVB rays (the ones that burn you) and not UVA rays (the ones that give you wrinkles).

Finally, the best news is that this kit costs $25 (but it’s valued at $87), and all of the net profits (up to $430,000) will benefit The Skin Cancer Foundation. Yay!

I love the Shiseido SPF 55 and have used it for a couple years; I’ve recently purchased the new Prescriptives All Weather Friend (SPF 40) and like that too. It’s lighter than the Shiseido and no white cast.

Have you ever tried Glycolix Elite Sunscreen SPF 30? It contains 17% zinc oxide along with some antioxidants. I’m not sure about the other ingredients but I was thinking about giving this a try since the Shiseido one makes my skin oily under makeup. I was also considering the DDF matte one but it doesn’t contain zinc oxide. The drawback on the Glycolix one is that it’s expensive - $25.00 for only 1.6 oz….yikes!

    Jrzygrl,
I have the Glycolix sunscreen, and it’s good. I forgot I had it, but used it today. It has a very slight white cast to it, but when I mixed a little foundation in with it, it was fine. It dries with a matte finish. On my skin, the Shiseido has a matte finish as well, but this is slightly more matte on my skin - but I do have dry skin. It’s definitely more matte than most of the sunscreens I have, but I am not sure how well it would do on oily skin.

What a fabulous kit. I must get this out to my readers. Thanks.

    Hi Jeni,
I was wondering if you ever heard of Azur (www.azurskin.com) and their anti-aging SPF 30 or 40 moisturizer? If so, would you recommend their ingredients?

  6. Jeni - Savvy Skin Says:

    Jrzygirl,
I haven’t heard of Azur. I just looked at the site and the sunscreen moisturizers look like they might be good because they contain Zinc Oxide. But I couldn’t find a list of the exact ingredients, or the percentage of the sunscreen ingredients, so it’s hard to say if the products are good or not.
