Soap & Glory At Target

· Comments(7)

soap and gloryThe makers of the super popular skin care line Bliss have a new cheaper line of skin care products called Soap & Glory. Here in the US, the line is sold at my favorite store - Target. I’ve been excited to try the line since I haven’t purchased any Bliss products because they are a bit pricey for my budget (I just test them when I go to Sephora and I’ve gotten their Body Butter free on a Jet Blue flight).

The Soap & Glory products are all packaged in pink bottles and jars, and the products have cute labels and names. The packaging is strikingly similar in concept to that of Benefit Cosmetics. From Target I purchased Soap & Glory’s The Righteous Butter, and Flake Away. I got the 50ml jars at only $3 each! You can’t beat the price!

The Righteous Butter
This is a body butter that has shea butter, glycerin, and coconut butter as some of its main ingredients. For me it worked decently as a moisturizer, but I could not get over the smell of it. I guess I’m “sensitive” since I can’t usually wear perfume without getting tired of the scent after a few minutes. The Righteous Butter has a strong, overwhelming floral scent that was way too much for me. After slathering it on my legs, I ended up washing my hands three times to get the smell to go away. I’ve read other blogs that say they love the scent, so you might want to smell it in the store before buying it!

Flake Away
This is an exfoliating body scrub that has sea salt, petrolatum (vaseline), and sweet almond oil as some of its main ingredients. I used this in the shower and it left my legs nicely moisturized and pretty smooth. I’ve used better scrubs than this that hydrated my skin more, but this one is pretty good. It has the same scent as The Righteous Butter, but it wasn’t as overpowering, probably because I washed most of it off in the shower.

There are several other Soap & Glory products to try at Target, but I have a limited budget! Some of the products come in small and large sizes, which makes them nice if you just want to sample some without breaking the bank. If you’ve tried some of the other products, let me know what you think. The great thing about Target is that you can always return an item if you try it and don’t like it for some reason.

I tried the “Scrub of your LIfe” and didn’t care for it…it’s full of the bad things that can clog pores and it is supposed to help with the bumps on arms… I wrote them an email and they said of sorry we’ll send you a saple of something else…Her reply kind of bugged me since she didn’t even take the time to update her “template” te reflect the item I complained about!

“Thank you so much for taking the time to send us feedback on FILL NAME OF PRODUCT IN HERE. We’re so sorry that you weren’t satisfied with this product. (It’s in fact one of our most popular products, and we’ve received rave reviews, but as always, not everything works on everyone…”

    Kim,
Yeah I remember you bought that product and then they sent you the form letter. I don’t usually look at the ingredients of body care products, unless I’m looking for something that is hydrating, but it does seem like that Soap & Glory product you bought wouldn’t have helped the problem! Have you tried KP Duty by Dermadoctor.com? Otherwise Paula’s Choice has an 8% Glycolic Acid, or there are stronger strength Glycolic Acid gels/lotions at Sephora - I know Peter Thomas Roth makes some. Or have you found something that works?

Havenm’t found a thing that works…but am in between jobs right now, so “personal care” items don’t make it into my cart :( When I am flush again I will be trying Paula’s, I really like her newsletters and she seems so common sense, you know?

The *only* thing that has ever helped me with bumps on my upper arms is dry brushing, and you can’t find anything cheaper than that! :) Just get a natural bristle brush (not too stiff or it will hurt) and then brush your skin with circular uppward movements before your shower. The first few times your skin can itch, but that will pass. Your skin will be super soft and no more bumps! :)

    Kim,
I forgot to mention that last year I got those bumps on my arms - they appeared all of a sudden, and the bumps coincided with using a new soap - Dove Cool Moisture - the body wash, not the bar soap. I used it for about a month and the bumps were so bumpy and rough! On a hunch, I read the ingredients of the soap and didn’t find anything alarming in it. I bought another soap that had different ingredients listed as the first few ingredients, and the problem went away in a few days! It was crazy how a soap could do that, since I have never been prone to acne/clogged pores on my arms before. I have a problem with dry skin, and this new Johnson’s softwash extra care 24 hour moisturizing wash I found at Wal-mart is making my arms so smooth!

These products are just what I’m looking for - where do I get them? I am in Southend-on-Sea (Essex)

    Bonnie,
I live in the United States, so I’m not sure where you can get Soap and Glory. I think they sell the line at Boots, if you have that store there. Otherwise, you could buy it from http://www.target.com and have it shipped to you, if they do international shipping. Oh, or Harvey Nichols sells it if you have that store. Also, http://www.boots.com and http://www.harveynichols.com
