Since my experience with laser hair removal has still left me with quite a bit of hair, I’m back to shaving as my form of hair removal. When I was younger, I loved those pink Daisy razors, but then one day they changed them, and they would catch on my skin whenever I used them! Then I switched around from one disposable razor after another, and they all caught on my skin! It was a nightmare.
Venus razors
I switched to the Venus razor when it came out, and have had good luck with it. That was the first 3-blade razor I had ever used. Woohoo! Gillette asked me if I wanted to try their new 5-blade razor (with “protective ribbons of moisture”) called the Venus Embrace, and I said yes, since I am already a fan of their product. I just tried it, and you really do only need one swipe to get rid of all the hair! I’m not sure how much of a difference I can feel between the Venus Divine (which I currently use) and the new Embrace, but my skin really does feel smooth! It’s definitely worth trying to see what you think. And no nicks, or tugging on my skin, thankfully.
I haven’t tried all the other brands out there, so I can’t compare, but I’m quite happy with this new razor. The only bad thing is that replacement cartridges are expensive to me, so I end up using the same one for a really long time! And the head of the razor is pretty big, so it’s hard to maneuver it in “special areas.” I wish they’d make a mini Venus razor for that. hint hint!
Oh the other biggest “advancement” I’ve made with shaving is to use shaving cream. I never, ever used it til like 2 years ago! I now love shaving cream, it smells really good, and it’s cheap!
If you have any humorous/helpful shaving stories, feel free to share! Try the Venus Embrace!

Hey Jeni,
I’m a guy and I just wanted to share that I use Venus Razors for getting a smooth close shave for my face. The reason why it works so well is that no hair gets stuck in the blades so its always a smooth shave. I’m sure other men’s razors do the same but I accidentally started using my gf’s Venus and I was hooked. I actually saw the Venus Embrace in CVS today and was thinking of trying it out. I may try it out once i run out of cartridges again. To me the cartridges are also expensive but worth it when i get a non irritated smooth clean shave! Oh and congrats on your success!
