What Self Tanners Smell The Best?

· Comment(1)

self tannersWhat are you favorite self tanners, and which ones smell the best? In the summer, I use self tanners every day, but have a hard time finding ones that smell good. It seems like it’s super hard for beauty companies to come up with fragrances that successfully cover up the unpleasant scent of DHA (the ingredient that causes your skin to darken).

Currently for my face I use either Neutrogena Build-A-Tan for Facesor L’Oreal Sublime Glow for Face. Both of these are good because they don’t contain any pore-clogging ingredients, and the smell is tolerable, and the scent goes away quickly. They are slightly moisturizing as well, and the results are very natural. Of course I still wear sunscreen over these, since self tanners don’t offer you sun protection, unless they have SPF, but neither of these products contain zinc oxide so I don’t consider them as having proper sun protection.

For the rest of my body, I struggle even more to find a pleasant smelling self tanner!! L’Oreal Sublime Bronze Self-Tanning Gelee smells the best of every self tanner I’ve tried, but since it contains alcohol, it really dries out my skin. It’s also a bit tricky to apply, since no matter how many tutorials I read about sunless tanner application, I can never get good results, and I am impatient! So mostly I use self tanner moisturizers like Jergens Natural Glow Daily Moisturizer and L’Oreal Sunless Sublime Glow Daily Moisturizer. These give a decent amount of color if used daily, but neither of them smell fabulously. Or I mix in the L’Oreal Sublime Bronze with the self tanner moisturizers, which seems to work well. Price is also a factor for me because I don’t want to spend a lot of money on products for my body, which is why I stick with drugstore finds.

So what self tanners have you had the best results with, and which smell the best?

    I haven’t tried a range yet, just a couple.
Currently I am doing fine with Loreal Sublime Glow or whatever it’s called, plus Bain de Soleil. Both smell nasty, the sublime not as bad though.
I loved Dove’s smell, it was great.
    Thinking of re-purchasing Dove.
