I would have never thought about using zinc before and now I am using all sorts of colors all the time and so are my friends.

I think zinc will remain a novelty for most young girls which I think is good. Models such as Lara Bingle still use pink and blue zinc, but Elle Macpherson and Megan Gale are now using invisible or more nude styles which is disappointing.

Using zinc/zinka too much for fashion can cause problems.

In the eighties my girlfriends and I would cover our noses in zinc more to have fun than protect ourselves. Sun protection is a huge issue, so if girls are applying zinc to their cheeks only it leaves the nose totally exposed.

I like zinc and I wear zinc in the sun, but my nose and top parts of my cheeks are covered.

To maryelle above, if you are needing to cover your privates in zinc why not cover yourself in clothing? Nudism in this day and age is ridiculous when we know what we know about sun damage.

I googled this forum looking to buy white zinc cream which is not easy to buy in the uk. I had never considered using zinc cream to be fashionable. Being a 40 something naturist I just put it on my nose and nipples but now I am going to consider a nice shape or even a new colour. Love the idea of using pink zinc as a lipstick :)

I remember one of the hottest ever Elle Macpherson pics was with yellow zinc cream on her nose on a beach.

I don’t wear zinc cream on my nose but I do wear pink zinc cream as lipstick. Sometimes the flesh coloured zinc cream too.

Firstly you’re gorgeous ….. just had to say that!

Love your comment about not being brave enough to wear zinc on your nose or under your eyes. I used to be the same. The difference is how it’s applied. Pink and white zinc can be spread thinly and be just as protective. And it gives an amazing look. I wouldn’t wear it to work but in the sun/beach/pool zinc is just part of my wardrobe.

I’m an aussie girl. Agree with Debbie that if you are going to stand out and wear zinc you should at least do it in a nice shape. I like nose stripes or even just lips. But I do wear tan colour every now and then. White is still my favourite.

I stumbled on this thread. I like zinc but I don’t like the way the soccer girls are using it. It looks too functional and nothing to do with fashion (sorry). Applying zinc to your nose and cheeks in one blg block looks messy. This is how it used to be done in the 80s and why I believe it went out of fashion.

I like to apply to my cheeks only or a simple stripe down my nose.

Hi, Sydney FC’s Leena Khamis and a number of other team members wear zinc for their outdoor venues. I’m not sure whether it’s a pale white or blue, but agree it does look quite stunning.

I think that tan colors are great however makers of zinc (including Zinka) should make their products less flouro. You can blend it down with white, but it’s a lot of messing around.

Invisible zinc, I don’t see the point. Colors are great, it’s fun and looks beautiful.

I think that coloured zinc just may be coming back into fashion. I have noticed that the sydney girl’s soccer team seem to wear zinc, but rather than going flouro they seem to spread it on extremely thinly. It looks quite sexy.
